About Us
Home-Start Butetown,Grangetown,Riverside (BGR) was set up in 2000.Over 500 families have benefited from our services. This has exceeded the targets that are set by Home-Start UK and clearly demonstrates the need within the local community.Initially families who lived in the BGR areas of Cardiff could access the service.
Following a successful Big Lottery application in 2006 the service expanded into Adamsdown,Splott and Tremorfa in Cardiff.
In 2009 due to a successful application under the People and Places Big Lottery grant the service has expanded into Canton,Cathays,Plas Newydd,Gabalfa,Heath,Rhiwbina,Llanishen and BME Cardiff wide.
This expantion was one that the trustees were keen to develop for some time.
The new funding has enabled us to employ more staff which in turn means that we well be able to support more families.
We are indebted to our volunteers, who work closely with our staff. Without them it would be impossible for the scheme to function. We thank them all for the time and commitment they give to help the quality of life of the families they support.
Whilst we are moving into an exciting period of development we are conscious that the long term sustainability of the service is vulnerable to time limited funding sources and an environment of frequent changes in the public sector. These are issues that will be monitored regularly, whilst at the same time identifying new funding opportunities, to ensure that we are able to maintain and further develop the high quality services that we currently offer to families.
